Double the Credit. Half the Time.
Dual Enrollment allows high school students to take either academic degree level core courses that will transfer to most TCSG or USG Colleges or Universities, occupational courses, or diploma level core courses. Some students may choose to enroll fully into a degree, diploma or technical certificate of credit program, or they may choose to just take a few courses. No hours taken through the Dual Enrollment program will count towards a student’s HOPE Grant or Scholarship credit hour caps. Participating in the new Dual Enrollment program is a great incentive for high school students to get ahead on their college coursework!
- Dual Enrollment allows high school students to get a jump start on their college majors, putting them miles ahead on the road to their dream career.
- Many degree-level core classes will transfer to the University System of Georgia or Technical College System of Georgia colleges or universities PLUS many other colleges/universities outside of the state of Georgia! Starting your college career at Augusta Technical College can really take you anywhere you want to go. Please visit the QR code for the current list.
- The first 30 college credit hours taken and paid via Dual Enrollment funding will not count against students’ 127 HOPE Scholarship or HOPE Grant hours.
- College core credits ARE counted as rigor courses for HOPE Scholarship and Zell Miller Scholarship calculations.
Students are allowed to take up to 15 credit hours per semester, and courses may be taught on campus, online, or via a hybrid model. Students can enroll in Augusta Technical College courses during the Fall, Spring, or Summer semesters.
Tuition and most fees are covered by Dual Enrollment for every eligible student in the program. Books will also be provided to Dual Enrollment students at no charge via our Dual Enrollment Lending Library. Because students are now eligible to participate in almost all Augusta Technical College programs, they may be responsible for course-specific fees in some program areas. Students should speak to their High School Coordinators/Counselors and or Program Advisors to find out specifics about course-related fees.
As seen with Dual Enrollment, the Joint Enrollment program provides high school students the opportunity to take courses at Augusta Technical College and receive college credit. Unlike Dual Enrollment however, students may ONLY receive college credit, and no High School credit is provided. Joint Enrolled students are not Dual Enrolled students and often have to take courses outside of their high school schedule.

Students enrolling in High School Postsecondary Graduation Opportunity are limited to 30 hours of Dual Enrollment funding, just like traditional Dual Enrollment students. High School Postsecondary Graduation Opportunity students who max out the 30 hours of Dual Enrollment Funding may use the HOPE Grant/HOPE Career Grant to finish their program, if eligible. Students who use the HOPE Grant/HOPE Career Grant must meet HOPE residency requirements. Any HOPE Career Grant or HOPE Grant hours used will count against HOPE caps.
Students pursuing an Accelerated Career diploma are also limited to the 30 state-funded credit hours of dual enrollment. If a student needs additional hours to complete their college course work, they may use the HOPE Grant/HOPE Career Grant to complete their program, if eligible. Please note that the HOPE Grant has a Georgia residency requirement and using this program will count against HOPE hours.
